  • Music Business
  • Market Research
  • Critical Research
  • CSM5 Schedule

Music Business

An extensive overview of the platforms, networks and structures that can support your project, the business services that can help you monetise your work.

Market Research

Detailing the cultural and aesthetic background of your practice within a historical framework. This will demonstrate your understanding of the theoretical issues surrounding your practice.

CSM5 Schedule

A proposed schedule for the completion of the major project 1 (CSM5) including pre- production over the summertime. This will detail how you will manage your time and resources in order to complete the project.

Work Experience

CSM6 Promotion and Tech.

Evidence of your contribution to CSM6 promotion. This task will require that you actively contribute to the promotion and technical running of the show.

B – Artist / Project Website

This will be the public face of your project and will introduce you to web design.

Your site will act as a marketing and promotional tool for your professional development and can either act as an overall artist portfolio website or it could be project specific.

The contents of the site will be designed in collaboration with your tutors and will need to show consideration of the following:

  • Design
  • Site Architecture
  • News / Information / Contact details / Social network integration
  • Samples of your work (video / audio) to stream or download

Design

The aesthetics of your ‘branding’, applying this to a website and understanding how it fits with your own music practice. You will be expected to identify current online design trends and how they may be relevant to your own branding.

Site Architecture

Navigation, layout and usability of your website. Creating an easy to navigate online experience for your visitors is essential.

News / Events / About

Understanding why people will return to your website. Often visitors will be looking for information on who you are, what you are currently working on and what you may be doing next. You will understand how to integrate a newsfeed to your website as well as how to use social media in a selective and professional way.

Audio / Video

Using your website as a place to host your media. Understanding the benefits and downsides to hosting audio and video online and how to do it effectively.

Your artist website can either act as a static ‘brochure website’ or be a dynamic web log-based site.

You should keep any information relating to your artist website production in your research website.

Within this, you should outline the development and design process for your website. Please include any ‘Mood board’, site plans, sketches and wire-frame designs.
